I wanted to try out Gimp 2.2 for Mac OS X, which I finally got around to installing. It seems a lot slower than 1.2, and the makers of this particular release saw fit to Aquafy the user interface without really understanding Apple's design guidelines.

"Aquafy" the user interface?

Do you mean wetting the keyboard? Or some kind of virtual-water inside the computer?

Aqua is the name of the user interface of Mac OS X.

So they mac-ified it...but not washed it ready for eating?

So it's more mac-ful than before...why is that not good since you use a mac and mac-osX for you all your mac-ing. More mac-ness should be good, right?

Especially when it isn't wet. Am I missing something?

Good UIs in GIMP have traditionally always been rather, well, elusive, so that's not really a surprise. :P

Gimp 2.x was just starting to look really great too until they dumped all the useless or inconsistently written plugins from 1.x back in with Gimp 2.2.
