A plea for help

It's come to the point I freely admit I need help. (Windows users only, please.) If you go to my Movies page on Roophilia, are you able to play the first two movies? What about the other movies, which are just straight .mp4 files? What version of Windows do you use? What version of QuickTime, or are you using MPlayer or VLC instead? (You don't have to download the whole movie. If you can play just a few seconds of it, that's all I need to know.)

For the QuickTime gurus, I encoded the first two movies using Apple's MPEG-4 codec with a QuickTime wrapper (hence the .mov extension) and with fast start internet streaming enabled using QuickTime 6.4/6.5. One person has told me that it complained about not having 3ivx.dll. I had thought that any copy of QuickTime 6.0 or later should be able to play these files, regardless of the platform.

Your support will help to make Roophilia better and more cross-platform compliant. Thank you.

Q: Are you able to play the first two movies?
A: Yes. But I right-click and save-as to the hard drive. Just clicking on the movie link opens a blank screen that sits and loads for ages (I have broadband/adsl speed) but the movie does play after the file has download.

Marko, what editor do you use to fiddle around with your MOV files?

I have a digital camera that takes video footage but only exports it to computers in MOV format only. I need an editor that can remove sound and cut out sections of the movie footage where there's no action happening. =:/

I use iMovie which is a Macintosh only program. That and QuickTime Pro lets me do everything I need with digital video, but I'm not really sure what's available under Windows. I know Windows XP comes with it's own movie editor, but the last time I looked at it it was crap and probably can't handle QuickTime anyway.

yes, yes, xp with sp2 (which I hate) and 6.5.1 which doesn't seem to work (asks to insert disk in /device/hardisk2/dr3, and then another device number and does that about 15 times) so I have to use "open with internet explorer"
