Bakken, the world's oldest amusement park

Rattie took me to see Bakken, the world's oldest amusement park. After a lovely walk in the surrounding forest (which helped me get over my fear of deer) we entered the amusement park itself and I was delighted to see a kangaroo carousel as my first ride. I had a dof burger, which I'm told is traditional Danish fare and I liked it very much. Bakken is famous for its creepy clown, which has been a feature of the park from its very beginnings. (It makes me want to write a dark fantasy story about how the clown is secretly the one who started the park 500 years ago and has been using it draw energy from the children he entertains ever since.) The clown isn't actually as scary in person as he is on the website and he is actually very good at entertaining the kids. We both had a lot of fun and I was delighted to see such an important fixture of Denmark. Thank you Rattie, you really are the world's sweetest rat. (Don't tell the other rats or they'll be jealous!)

I was wondering how much older it might be than, say, De Efteling, and then I saw.. =:D Okay, I think De Efteling was founded a little later. Though from the photos on the front page, perhaps the current incarnation has something of a similar appeal.

Nothing wrong with a healthy respect for just how very pointy antlers are, or indeed, the force that can be applied behind hooves. ^_^;

The photo seems to want a Google login.. ? (For LJ, I've found Imgur works well, with the annoying caveat that the filenames are always mangled. Someday, I'll get off my tail and set up my own site again, basically to have readable filenames again. Then there's Flickr, of course, where I put my "actual" photography - anything worth enabling comments for, and where I might be able to add to the corpus of imagery on a particular subject or topic, given there are Flickr communities for just about every topic =:)

I don't mind clowns, actually. I suspect that whole thing's just been rather overplayed, especially in light of works like King's "It", with that supremely sinister juxtaposition between comedic and outright evil.

A kangaroo carousel? How neat! Was there any leporine representation as well? ^_^
