I saw Ratatouille today, a special sneak preview. It was amazing, even better than I was hoping it would be! I hate to say it, but for me the standout performances came from the two human "villains" (only one of them was really a villain in the traditional sense). The surprisingly downbeat (but still happy) ending made a pleasant change from the standard Hollywood fare. The climax, a touching celebration of rat unity even after Remy's disturbing efforts to become more human, made me cry. The movie deserves more viewings, and it will certainly get them.

It's by far my favorite movie. ^^ Even moreso than Brother Bear, and we all know how many times I saw that >_>;;

But what article did that photo come from? That looks like it's from the world premiere, so I guess there's no word on when (if at all) the fursuits will make it down to Australia?

They currently have fursuits out in WDW Florida, IIRC.

But surely they've got more copies than just those? Maybe not.

Worth the wait? =:)

I'd so been looking forward to it, especially once news that Brad Bird was taking over as director - a genuinely furry Pixar production (not quite counting Monsters Inc)! But gods, how well they established early on the joy of good food, and carried it onwards with the authenticity of how a busy kitchen really runs - details that weren't crucial to the story, but gave it verisimilitude, just as did the authentic swordplay between Inigo Montoya and Wesley.

You want to know how a commercial kitchen REALLY runs ? .Read Anthony Bourdain's book 'Kitchen Confidential'.
...real eye opener the same way that my present workplace has.

Seconded. It's an excellent book.

Bourdain was actually one of their chef advisors for the film.

I'm glad it's good. I read the children's book (I'm not great at sitting through films - attention span thing) and liked the story and thought they did a good job of making the rats look like rats, not little dogs.

And why shouldn't rats have fresh food, not stale? Fresh food is nice.

How come you guys in the land down under didn't get Ratatouille in theaters until now?

On another note, seeing how well Ratatouille has done at the box office already, Disney won't be saying anything bad about rats anymore ^.^/\/

FChan works just fine over here. It must be something to do with your ISP or network settings. Ristin says thanks for the inquiry.
