Off to Mardi Gras

ristin and I will be flying off to the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras this evening. Although the march itself and the preparation for it were great last year (and it looks like it will be up to the same standard this year), we're hoping Sydney itself will treat us better this year. After taking on America and winning, I know I'm ready for my biggest challenge yet. The most important difference is that we ourselves will be in charge of our own destiny this year instead of tagging along with someone else. Doing it myself has made me better appreciate the burden that was taken off our shoulders last year, but would any of you doubt I'm ready for the challenge? ;)

There is a live webcast on the Mardi Gras website but you have to pay to see it. Hopefully I'll be able to share photos and maybe video after the event.

Hi there!

[Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] has rec'd you for a question about rats I posted in [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] about bedding for rats and the availability in Australia. I have been trying to find either Carefresh or aspen bedding for my cute little buck, but I haven't found anything, and the pet stores where I live don't have a clue where to get some (or can't be a**ed to). Also, I've looked in Bi-Lo, Woolies, Coles, and IGA supermarkets to no avail. Can you please let me know where you get non-toxic bedding from? It would be greatly appreciated!

BTW, I'm at UNE in NSW. And yes, Armidale sux - that's why there's nothing here.

I was recommended to use (and do use) shredded paper (but not newspaper because the ink comes off). The vet I go to (who knows about rats) was happy with it too. I would think a decent pet store would have what you're after but I understand you may not find same in Armidale.
