Kiroo's gone

[livejournal.com profile] kiroo, that fun-loving kangaroo from the UK has moved on to sunnier climes, but he hopes to be back in Brisbane in the next couple of weeks. As you might have guessed, I've taken quite a shine to that kangaroo. It was great to meet a fellow plushophile, and he was a lot of fun to have around. If he's ever in your area, you must offer him free accommodation! He's terribly polite and tolerant without being obsequious and has a good work ethic.

Anyway, I wish him well on his journeys. I'm worried about him, because he's travelling around Australia on his own, except for a small plush kangaroo to keep him company. He doesn't even know anyone here except for me. I'd never have the courage to explore a strange country on my own like that. He did this to escape his rut, but I guess I'm too stuck in mine.

is he coming to Sydney?

Yes. He's planning to visit a good chunk of the Eastern seaboard, and venture at least as far west as Adelaide.

Oh, jolly good show! I really enjoyed Sydney in my brief stint there. Not to say I didn't like Brisbane also (indeed, Jameson's remains my top meal thus far. I wonder if it's improved or declined since then? All in the hands of the chef, after all, who saw to every detail of our dishes that night), but staying with friends then meant I didn't get to explore much of the city, beyond a couple excursions to a fishing port a bit to the north, and a Buddhist retreat inland.

I do, perversely, miss the possums scampering across the (metal) rooftop. ^_^ (I made a point of picking up a possum hand puppet at the Australian Geographic store in the local maul)
