And then the wallaby farted

First off, I'd like to mention I've got fresh photos of Harriet the Galapagos Island tortoise that met Charles Darwin on my site here. (I'm not going to make a habit of announcing updates to Roophilia here, but I thought this was topical as a follow up to an earlier post.)

It being a public holiday in Queensland but not in Victoria, I thought I'd console myself over [livejournal.com profile] ristin's absence by visiting the kangaroos at Lone Pine. I hadn't spent time alone with them for a few months, so it seemed a good opportunity. I pondered how lucky I am to be able to take these kangaroos for granted when poor [livejournal.com profile] aldi had to make every moment count, even going so far as doing things I disapproved of. Of course, I don't need the kangaroos like I used to before I met that wonderful raccoon. How blessed am I?

But, bringing us back to the title of this entry, I heard a male Pretty-face wallaby fart. Twice. I didn't smell anything, but it was a very distinctive noise. Although it's the first time I caught one at it, it's not uncommon for macropods to fart. Grass isn't all that good for you, you know.

*ponders the "needing" the kangaroos comment* maybe I'm too tired, but explain?

I want to go see them...do you get to touch them? *sparkly eyes* Will you take me sometime you go perhaps? I've never seen a roo for real..

You could have gone to see the metal 'roos in the city...

Yeah...poor Aldi. It must be hard for him at the moment... Unemployment sucks badly.

hehe. If you want a kangaroo to clear the area of humans, without clothes pegs on their noses, feed them brocolli :)

*blinks at the last part then chuckles*

Hey! This isn't the three questions meme, you know!

As for "needing" kangaroos, that's a curly one. Maybe "need" is too strong a word. The kangaroos would revitalise my spirit, help me to regain my calm centre. Does one "need" these things? Maybe. I freely admit that my reliance on kangaroos was fuelled by loneliness. Roophilia probably would never have come into existence if I hadn't broken up with my first boyfriend.

Yes. You get to touch them and pet them and feed them. I'll be happy to take you.

Yes, I do know my way around Brisbane, Darth. :) Those 'roos are cold metal (or warm if the sun shines on them). It's not the same thing.

*dances* touchy the fuzzy hoppers! wee!

(disclaimer: rose is insane and delerious tonight, do not pay attention to the squeaking spotty)

Those things are nice - I think the guy that made them use to buy some of his stuff from where I did W4tD...

poor aldi had to make every moment count

Yeah, and I did too. <:-) I still miss them though, especially their smell and their grunting sounds. I also miss that white roo at Australia Zoo, and "Jitters" from Wildlife Wonderland. As yes, you should mention every update of your site here! I did hear roos fart, but I reacted the same as when humans fart: I pretended nothing happened. ;-)

*hugs tight* Thanks Ristin. Yeah, I'm trying to figure out what to do now. I think that computer programming is not an option for me anymore, so I have to figure out what to do now. <:-(
