I want to let my fellow Mac-users know about a layers-based image editor I recently discovered: LiveQuartz. It uses CoreImage filters and it's faster than Gimp (on my system) and properly integrated into Aqua. It can't do everything Gimp can, but it does enough to replace Gimp in my regular day to day use. The only downside is that you need Mac OS 10.4 to run it and a recent Mac with a CoreImage-compatible graphics card to get good performance out of it.

*looks at Powerbook G3 running Panther*
*shrugs*

I'm glad for you, anyway.

And have decided to move to Linux for the next computer. I'll be sad about missing Leopard, but I'll be able to afford a new computer much quicker.

Did I mention I installed Fink, by the way? I think you were one of the people encouraging me to. The KBounce deprivation got to me, and I finally went and did it. It's working fine now.

I moved to Linux as well once but ended up going back to Mac. *hugs his iMac* That was a few years ago. YMMV, and Linux is getting better all the time. Good luck with it. I actually don't have Fink installed on my new computer. I haven't found a need for it so far (Gimp is about the only program I use under X now and there's a better packaging of it outside of Fink). I haven't heard of KBounce.
